Drip Edge
A drip edge is an L-shaped metal flashing installed along the edges of a roof to direct water away from the fascia and into the gutter system.
Texas building code requires drip edge on all new roof installations. Drip edge prevents water from wicking back under shingles and rotting the roof deck. Most DFW homes use aluminum or galvanized steel drip edge. During roof replacement, JRH Construction always installs new drip edge to code — many storm chasers skip this step to cut costs.
