DFW Hail Impact Report — JRH Construction

Free DFW Hail History Lookup

Was your DFW roof hit by hail in the last 2 years?

Type your address. We pull every NOAA + IEM-verified hail event within 5 miles of your property — date, hail size, distance, and the Texas insurance filing deadline (1 year per Tex. Ins. Code 542A). Free, instant, no obligation.

Your address isn’t saved unless you ask for an inspection. We hit NOAA + Iowa Environmental Mesonet only — no third-party tracking.

How the JRH Hail Impact Report works

  1. 1. NOAA + IEM ingestion. Our storm atlas cron pulls hail polygons every 15 minutes from the NOAA Storm Events Database, the Iowa Environmental Mesonet (IEM) MRMS MESH product, and NWS Storm-Based Warnings.
  2. 2. Geocoding. Your address is resolved via the U.S. Census Geocoder (free, no API key, no third-party tracking).
  3. 3. Spatial query. We query every hail polygon within ~5 miles of your property over your selected lookback window (2 years default).
  4. 4. Texas filing window. Under Texas Insurance Code 542A, you have 1 year from the date of damage to file a claim. We surface the deadline + days remaining for every event.
  5. 5. Damage score. Composite hail + wind + tornado risk based on event proximity, frequency, and severity. verdict: high / medium / low / none.

What hail size triggers a real insurance claim?

0.75" (penny-sized) is the typical insurance threshold for a roof claim in Texas. Hail at 1.0" (quarter-sized) typically causes visible bruising on asphalt shingles. Hail at 1.75" (golf-ball-sized) or larger is almost always a full-replacement claim. The Texas 25% Rule says if more than 25% of a roof slope is damaged, the entire slope must be replaced.

Why JRH’s tool beats “just call State Farm”

Insurance carriers don’t volunteer your hail history. Your adjuster pulls a single location-specific report when you file the claim, and they’re trained to under-estimate. Our tool surfaces every event in your area so you walk into the adjuster meeting with the evidence already in hand. Result: most JRH clients pay only their deductible, and we re-submit Xactimate-grade documentation that recovers $4–$12K of supplements competitors miss.
