Roof Flashing
Roof flashing is thin metal (aluminum, galvanized steel, or copper) installed at roof joints, valleys, and penetrations to prevent water infiltration.
Flashing is the most common failure point on DFW roofs. Step flashing along walls, valley flashing where two roof planes meet, and pipe boot flashing around plumbing vents all require proper installation and regular inspection. After hailstorms, flashing is often dented or displaced, creating leak paths that may not appear for months. JRH Construction inspects all flashing during free roof inspections.

Roof Valley
A roof valley is the V-shaped channel where two sloping roof planes intersect, forming a natural pathway for water runoff.
Pipe Boot
A pipe boot (also called a pipe jack or vent boot) is a pre-formed flashing that seals the gap around plumbing vent pipes where they penetrate the roof surface.
